Whilst teenagers across the world had temporary heartbreak with the news of boy and One Direction taking a ‘break’, we’re sure the following news made all well again.

One Direction’s Harry Styles was undoubtedly a fan favourite during the 2010 X-factor competition which saw the formation of the now boyband global sensation.

We’ll admit it, we can now see why as his hair situation has seemingly improved.

Young and ‘old’ were all goo-goo eyed over the then 16 year old. Our fellow Brits might remember ex-girlfriend Caroline Flack, then 30 who gave new meaning to the term cougar…and you all thought rapper Tyga was bad.

Moving on, word on the virtual streets is that Styles has already been approached by record label Sony with an offer of a deal for a solo career. The label believe has star appeal, and has faith in Harry as a breakout star.

What about his bandmates?!

Let’s face it, chances are if it wasn’t for X-Factor putting them together as a group we would never have heard of some of them ever again.

The recent news of the band taking a break to pursue solo projects comes suspiciously soon after the true ‘hot’ member of the group Zayn Malik announced that he was choosing another direction.

Which seemed as though it may had caused a rift between him and his former bandmates after he clearly altered the truth in his reason for leaving.

Is this a case of can’t beat em join em?!

Well according to Daily Mail, there is definitely looking to be some serious rivalry with the two, as 21-year old Styles apparently has his eyes set stateside. Harry is said to be looking for a home and is possibly wanting to get his foot into Hollywood in an acting career also.

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has reportedly said he is keen to give Harry his start in Hollywood;

“There’s no question he will enter the movie business. I get from him that he wants to.

“Harry doesn’t even have to audition for me. We offered him a part and he couldn’t do the movie because he had the tour. The amount of money their tour did is crazy, so he’s got obligations.”

The other members of course have their own plans with Louis, 23, possibly returning to where it all started, back to X-Factor as a judge.

As we all know Louis is also an expectant father, so this break is perfectly timed. Along with X-Factor, the 1D star will also be a part of the search for the next all female band in Sony’s ‘Be in the Band’ search.

Whilst Niall, 21, has song writing experience having written a song with Justin Bieber, he is said to also be continuing down the musical path.

It looks as though there are similar plans for Liam, 21, who is reported to want to spend more time at home with his family and girlfriend, as well plans to DJ and songwriting for other artists.

If these are anything to go by, the lads clearly have their year offset out. Will they actually return after the break?
It seems with bands like this they usually have a life expectancy of around 5 years, which we have seen in the past.

Or is this to test the waters to see how they will all fare alone? Only time will tell.
