This weekend we sat down to have brunch with the R&B Diva Syleena Johnson – and the tea was served!


We discussed; new music, her time on marriage boot camp: reality stars and a special exclusive new visual that is on its way… Will there be another season of R&B Divas: Atlanta?

Do you guys remember Syleena Johnson? Yep…we know, silly question right? Well for those who don’t, let us give you a little reminder.


With a total of eight albums under her belt, the songstress is best known for her raspy vocals who has worked with artists such R. Kelly, who wrote the Chicago natives first single ‘I Am Your Woman‘ from her 2001 debut album Chapter 1: Love, Pain & Forgiveness.


Lending her vocals for Grammy nominated single ‘All Falls Down‘ in 2004, Syleena collaborated with fellow Chicago artist Kanye West on the single which was taken from his debut album ‘College Dropout‘.


Did you know the song initially was to feature a sample of Lauryn Hill‘s ‘Mystery of Iniquity‘? Due to legal complications, the rapper/producer called on Syleena Johnson to sing portions of the song and guest feature.



How’s this one for a throwback? Let us bring you to 2002; you may also remember Syleena’s single ‘Tonight I’m Gonna Let Go‘ remix which featured Busta Rhymes and his group Flipmode Squad. The single was taken from her follow-up album Chapter 2: The Voice.

Throughout the years Syleena has collaborated with numerous artists including DMX, Jermaine Dupri, and Anthony Hamilton.


Some of you may be asking yourself, so what happened to her? Well, in most recent years Syleena Johnson has been citied on reality television show R&B Divas: Atlanta.






Do you watch Atlanta’s R&B Divas? The TV ONE reality series features some of the best vocalists in the business. Three seasons in has giving each Diva a platform to tell their story, whilst working together doing what they do best…sing!


Current and past cast mates include Faith Evans, Angie Stone, Monifah, Keke Wyatt, Nicci Gilbert (of Brownstone), Kameelah ‘Meelah’ Williams (of 702), and former Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson.


Has R&B Divas: Atlanta been cancelled?


The singer turned reality star also appeared in season 2 of WE TV‘s Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars with her husband former NBA basketball player Kiwane Garris, which initially had come as a surprise to fans of R&B Divas, as the couple hadn’t shown any signs of marital issues on the show.


Syleena, along with sisters Syleecia and Sylette and parents Brenda and Syl Johnson, also appeared on an episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life in order to work on their ongoing family issues.


On the music side of things, the ‘Hypnotic‘ singer released a duet album, 9INE in 2013 with soul singer Musiq Soulchild which saw the two artists collaborate on nine reggae songs recorded in nine days.

More recently the R&B Diva delivered her latest album Chapter 6: Couples Therapy, released in October 2014 serving as a solid soulful R&B record with songs that explore the dark-end of love such ‘Perfectly Worthless’, soul 90s head-bangers like ‘All This Way For Love’ and ‘Fools Gold’ which features as a duet with singer Leela James (of R&B Divas: LA). Syleena also collaborates with the unmistakable voice of Dave Hollister and R&B crooner Willie Taylor (of Day 26) on this record.
