Jessie J Puts A Sexy Twist On A Lauryn Hill Classic Brandon Carter December 14, 2016 “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” is a song that have stood the test of time. All depending on the era you came up in you can associate this song with two different artist. Originally recorded by singer Frankie Valli in 1967 and over the course of a 35 plus span the song was covered by dozens of different artist. Perhaps the other popular version was done by Lauryn Hill in 1998. Now British singer Jessie J is breathing new life into the song for the new generation with a very sexy twist. The sassy singer teased the new song via her instagram. Many fans are praying this is the first look into her upcoming album. She definitely holds her own as a powerhouse vocalist of the new era. I truly love her voice and the look of the video. But for me, I feel it’s something missing that I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe I could just be bias because Hill’s version has a special place in my heart and it’s hard for me not to reference that song when listening to Jessie’s version. I will say my favorite part is the piano ending of the song with her beautiful vocals over it. You can tell she put a lot of effort in the video because of all the different looks. In some ways I believe I like the video more than I like the song. Take a look and tell me what you think: Were you feeling it?
