Like a lot of us, you may have accepted Solange Knowles‘ invite to a ‘A Seat At The Table‘ and glad you did.

The singers third album was released last week to rave reviews along with reaching the number 1 on iTunes.

Standing strong and independently as an artist in her own right, Solange has set herself apart from the super stardom of her older sister Beyoncé and the constant comparisons.

The new album which was a surprise release has pleasantly soothed and satisfied the ears of its listeners, and Solange has released a short documentary ‘A Seat At The Table, Beginning Stages‘, giving fans an insight into the creative process of its development.

In a Facebook post Solo wrote the following:

“I’m really excited to share with you a little film that documents the early stages of my songwriting, jam sessions, and collaborations of #aseatatthetable … 3 years ago, I moved into a small house in the middle sugar cane field in New Iberia, La with just my engineers @mixedbyblue and @audio_nino to finish all of the lyrics as well as structure and produce the jam sessions that have now become the songs on the album.

See the video in full which also follows me to Long Island, and New Orleans where I worked with an array of incredible collaborators on the project.”
