Watch: Toni Braxton’s Lifetime Biopic ‘Un-Break My Heart’ Team Curtains January 24, 2016 Last night, the biopic for the Grammy winning artist Toni Braxton aired on Lifetime titled Un-Break My Heart which was based on Toni’s 2014 book release Unbreak My Heart: A Memoir. The movie documents the 48-year old musical journey including being signed by LA Reid’s LAFace Records, being made bankrupt and the discovery that she suffers from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a potentially life-threatening autoimmune disease. Braxton, who stars in the WE tv’s reality series Braxton Family Values, executive produced the biopic film alongside Craig Baumgarten and was written by Susan McMartin and directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall. “I was always burdened with having to hide things,” Toni said in a phone interview with Instyle Magazine. Speaking on her role as an executive producer Toni says her role was to oversee the timeline and making sure things were accurate. On here bankrupcy: “It made it very challenging to speak out. I had to sit in silence about what happened and no one got to hear or see my side. I hate feeling sorry for myself, but it was tough going through it because I felt so alone and had no one I could talk to.” On important movie highlights: “The lupus. It was shocking to me at first, because I knew I was sick, but I never knew what was wrong with me. Besides that, I wanted people to understand my beginnings. They were very religious: I wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music or wear pants, so the journey to becoming the artist I am today was a long one.” On what she learned about herself: “I found out that I was stronger than I thought I was. I always try to find the silver lining in things. I always try to be positive.” With Toni’s sisters being a big part of her career of course we get an insight into their struggle as their sister leaves their sister girl-group to pursue her solo endeavour. Despite Tamar labelling the movie as “The Praxtons” on the her talkshow The Real & on Twitter: #thePraxtons — TAMAR BRAXTON (@TamarBraxtonHer) January 24, 2016 The movie gives an honest tale of how Toni Braxton has held a career of over 25-years & how she was silenced to discuss her bankruptcy publicly by her record label.
