Will Smith Admits Couples Therapy Saved His Marriage Team Curtains August 18, 2016 ‘I’ve done a lot of marriage counselling,’ says Will Smith. Admitting the famous couple had faced many “dark moments” over their 19- year marriage and couples therapy saved his marriage. After all the years of rumors marriage problems, which we now know held some truth, including talk of divorce and an open marriage. Actor Will Smith, 47, revealed that he and actress wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, 44, have previously sought support to save their relationship. Opening up to each other revealed “dark moments,” after being brutally honest with each other. Thank God therapy worked for them! The Suicide Squad star, told The Sun: “I’ve done a lot of marriage counseling. What happens in a marriage once you do counseling, the truth comes out. And you sit across from your wife and you’ve said all of your truth and she has said all of her truth.” He also admits problems don’t just vanish overnight: “You look at each other and you can’t imagine you could ever possibly love each other again now the truth is out. It creates a dark moment. But for me it’s the dark before the dawn.” The Independence Day actor spoke about going to individual therapy, but not marriage counselling. Will and Jada are parents to actor Jaden Smith, 18, singer Willow Smith,15, and Will’s other son Trey Smith, 23, from his previous marriage to Hollywood Exes star Sheree Zampino. Remember, last year, Will denied reports they were getting a divorce. His Facebook post came after Jada birthed speculation that the couple may be in an open relationship. She told on The Howard Stern Show in June 2015, it wasn’t her job to keep an eye on her husband. “At the end of the day, I’m not here to be anybody’s watcher. I’m not his watcher . He’s a grown man. I trust the man will is, is a man of integrity. So, he’s got all the freedom in the world, and as long as Will can look himself in the mirror and be OK, I’m good. ” The Gotham actress said. But it appears things are getting better for them now. Through all of their trials, the couple didn’t give up on each other. The Concussion star even spoke on Jada as being his “magical” wife: “Jada is magical. Part of why I love her is things happen in a way they shouldn’t happen, they shouldn’t go that way. She has this magical power.” It’s good to see that there is a happy ending!
