Zayn Malik Defies Haters In Latest Issue Of GQ Magazine Luke Osay August 17, 2016 POP singer Zayn Malik has never been one to be shy of showing off his alternative and fashionable style. Similar to his music, Zayn’s looks can be described as urban and mysterious. He manages to be able to mix his exotic background with a grungy biker look with the use of military boots, ripped jeans and tops with hefty price tags to accompany his heavily tattooed aesthetic. The mandala tattoos on his left hand could be considered as a salute to his middle eastern heritage. He also uses vintage and colourful pieces with interesting patterns and mixes them with today’s typical metro-man look to create his own unique style. These looks are featured in the August 2016 edition of GQ Magazine. In the feature Zayn states, “It’s about being happy to look a bit scruffy,” when he was asked about his look. He continues with “I just got into the whole rock sort of feel to clothes—big boots, skinny jeans, and dark T-shirt, and rings. Just the grungy feel.” “I’m being very, like, blessed at the minute by God or whoever it is, fate or whatever, so um, there’s a lot of offers come our way at the minute with different things to do with fashion.” Malik says as he lights a joint. There’s no doubt Zayn is quite profound with his thinking and that he has a lot of appreciation for what he has. It turns out that we too are feeling Zayn’s grunge look and can’t wait to see more. And we just might as the singer sent out a tweet on Thursday confirming that he will be releasing shoes in partnership with shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti in 2017. Singer turned style icon and now shoe designer? Seems Zayn is set up for quite a promising career. However, although most of us are living for Zayn’s style, others may disagree. Rapper and occasional Twitter Nazi Azealia Banks has been one of those to voice her opinion of Zayn’s style which according to her is borrowed. The ‘212’ rapper took to Instagram this weekend and posted images from Zayn’s GQ spread and used the following captions: ‘He legit looks like he used to be a girl. He gives me transman teas.’ This is not the first time Banks has publicly trolled Malik. Back in May, Azealia brutally bashed the former One Direction member on twitter for allegedly stealing her style in photo shoots as well as music videos. Continuing, the songstress went on a day long rant sending tweets calling him a “hairy curry scented b**ch” and accused him of theft, saying he “mood boarded the s**t” out of her. Back in May, Zayn never really directly responded to Banks, who has had online beef with numerous celebrities including Nicki Minaj, Erykah Badu, Iggy Azalea, Lil’ Kim and even 14-year old Skai Jackson. He sent out two sub-tweets to let Azealia know he wasn’t about to engage in her nonsense. Personally, I think there are similarities between these artists but whether Zayn copied Azealia or not she didn’t need to blow up the way she did. Bringing in his cultural and ethnic background was uncalled for and made her look bitter and desperate. Do you think Zayn was being classy by refusing to engage in World War Azealia or do you think his sub-tweets came off as shady?
